The next-generation electricity market and management technology enable faster adoption of RE in the national energy mix, achieve better energy efficiencies, secure a clean energy future.

Renewable energy is becoming an essential power for electricity generation in the future. From Power Development Plan (PDP) 2018-2037, revision 1 in October 2020, renewable energy power plants will have the most comprehensive ratio compared with other types of power plants in 2037 that increase to 35% of the total power generation capacity. Including the support in the “Solar rooftop program” of the government will encourage more renewable energy usage at the residential level.

However, the challenge of electricity generation using renewable energy still has to be considered. Because of its uncertainty producing power such as solar energy depends on the intensity of light each day, wind power depends on the wind speed that is not the same for each geography, or hydropower depends on the season and water allocation for agricultural areas. Electric energy is an asset unlike silver or gold that energy storage is costly, managing the efficient use of renewable energy is challenging these days.

To reduce such volatility, forecasting is one of the alternative solutions which can predict from reading statistics or implementing Machine Learning (ML) technology for weather forecasting to more accurately manage the energy produced.

If solar installations rapidly increase in the future, affects information scattered which will make it harder to monitor and control electricity production and consumption, therefore, the public sector needs to be aware of data storage and production and consumption control to prevent technical problems that may arise.

The implementation of technology such as Platform for Management, Monitoring and Data Storage is another alternative to control and supervision of domestic electricity. Including the market of electricity trading that allows everyone to trade energy with each other which will increase efficiencies of renewable energy usage.
